I thought it would be nice to reflect on some of the things that made me smile this week. I think we are all guilty of dwelling on or focussing too much on the bad stuff that happens day-to-day. So I decided that I’m going to take a few minutes every day to appreciate the good things. Here are some of the things that made me smile this week.
My Sister emailed me to let me know that ‘Get Living It‘ were looking for disabled bloggers to get in touch. I contacted them straight away explaining a bit about my blog and my interest in being involved with them. Get Living It is a website that will provide access and facility information on venues around the UK. They found my blog to be upbeat and have a nice feel to it making it an enjoyable read. It made me smile when they offered to feature my blog on their Facebook and Twitter pages.
One of my goals for 2015 was to take better care of my skin seeing as I’m approaching the dirty thirty. This has meant sticking to a strict skincare routine and I’m seeing a visible difference. I love natural products especially in skincare, but I’m also becoming more aware of what’s in my makeup products too (queue a complete overhaul of my makeup collection soon). I’ve been interested in Pai Skincare for so long and finally decided to bite the bullet and go for it. It is quite pricey, but I feel it’s best spending more on skincare to improve my skin rather than covering it up with expensive makeup. It made me smile when I arrived home after work to find my Pai order had arrived. I ordered Sea Aster & Wild Oat Redness Serum and got two products free.
Seeing my little Nephew always makes me smile, but today we had a very intelligent conversation about monkeys and what they like to eat. This then led to other animals and their favourite foods. This 2-year-old is too clever for his own good. His innocence and happy nature made me smile.
Thursday is usually a good day for me as it’s the start of my weekend (my last day of work for the week). We are getting a new car in a few months so we had a home demonstration today to have a look and test drive it. This was quite exciting seeing and discussing our options. We then headed to the cinema to see Southpaw and loved it. Today was a pretty good day and it made me smile.
This year I’ve been working quite hard on losing weight. I wasn’t overweight, but I was never happy with the way I looked so I decided at the start of the year to change the way I eat. I’ve cut out processed foods as well dairy, wheat and gluten from my diet. It’s difficult trying to lose weight and it doesn’t help that I’m in a wheelchair and can’t move around or exercise. Every month or so I get weighed and I decided to go today. I was so happy to find out that I’ve lost some more weight again. I felt proud of myself and it made me smile.
Today has been a simple day. We didn’t really have plans, but sometimes those days turn out to be great days. We started talking about possible travel plans. Its been a while since we last travelled outside the UK (the last trip being New York which you can read all about here) so it was quite exciting to discuss potential places we’d like to visit. This made me smile.
Today was a lazy, no makeup day watching movies. Isn’t that what Sundays are for, right? One of the movies we watched was ‘Beethoven’s 2nd’. This is such a good movie to watch especially on a relaxing and rainy Sunday. Watching this movie took me back to my childhood and that made me smile.
What made you smile this week?
