July has been another busy month and non-stop at Simply Emma HQ. There has been no travelling as such, but we have had a few fun days out and celebrations to keep the excitement alive. I’m looking forward to what August has in store, but first, let me share the things I’ve loved in July.
Vegan birthday cake
It was Allan’s birthday so it was a perfect excuse to order a vegan birthday cake from the amazing Keyk. As if we need an excuse though. We have ordered cakes from Keyk a few times over the past few years and have never been disappointed by the lovely Luda’s cake making skills. She is honestly the best! There are so many flavours to choose from that I found it difficult to pick. I eventually decided on Nutella and vanilla. I wanted there to be an animal design on the cake so left it up to Luda to work her magic. The end result was a chameleon and it was awesome. We absolutely loved it!
Hanging with friends at FriendsFest
We are massive fans of TV show Friends so it was a no-brainer when we found out FriendsFest was coming to Glasgow. One of our friends is also a massive fan so we all booked tickets to go together. His adorable little girl came along too which was a lot of fun. We had a great time as we got to check out all their apartments, have a drink in Central Perk, see some of the original props used on the show and recreate some of the famous scenes.

Falkirk Herald column
As I mentioned in last months ‘Things I’ve loved’ post, I am now a monthly columnist for Falkirk Herald. This months column was all about my love for warm weather and how it has a positive effect on my health. The column also discusses why simple things like a wheelchair accessible picnic table in a park can make a big difference.
You can read the online version of the column below:

Photograph
I haven’t included a favourite photo in a few months so I thought it was only right I shared one this month. This photo is of me and my cat, Milo. It captures such a real moment of our lives together as he is constantly using me as a climbing frame and I love it. This has got to be one of my favourites of the both of us together.
Favourite song
I know, I know! It’s another Pale Waves favourite, but I can’t help it. They’ve just released their new song, Noises, and I can’t stop listening to it. The video is pretty cool too. I won’t rabble on, but I can’t wait to see them live in September.
Reading
I used to love reading books, but over the past year or so I’ve barely read any at all. I really wanted to start reading more books again so the other day I went out to buy a few to get me started. A few books turned into five books, but I’m excited to read them all. The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is the one I’ve decided to read first and so far I’m really enjoying it. It’s a gripping thriller with twists and turns (my favourite kind of book) and if you are a fan of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train then I think you will enjoy this one. Apparently, the film rights have been sold to the creators of The Girl On the Train so watch this space for a movie too. I will let you know what I think of this book once I finish reading it. Reading helps me relax, so I’m going to try and work that into my daily routine as I feel I don’t take time out to unwind as much as I should. If you have any book recommendations please let me know in the comments.
