Normal People Soundtrack: Entire Playlist Of Songs From The Show

When done right, songs have a special way of blending beautifully with the pictures on screen. And the soundtrack to Normal People does just that. Perfectly complementing each scene, adding to the atmosphere, feelings and emotions of the characters. So what songs are on the Normal People soundtrack? And which are my favourite?

Like everyone who has watched it, I’ve fallen in love with Normal People. The BBC Three and Hulu series is an adaptation of Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel which tells the story of Marianne and Connell, two teenagers from rural Ireland who grow up and fall in love.

The twelve-episode series follows them throughout their school and college years as they fall in and out of being in a romantic relationship, but still somehow being very much part of each other’s lives.

It’s a captivating story and beautiful visuals had us hooked all the way through. I didn’t want it to end. I loved that it was unconventional, the bravery, insecurities and equality. At times the complicated and ongoing relationship between the two characters had us frustrated and always wanting the best for them.

Normal People Soundtrack

The purpose of this post isn’t to review the show (you can read a full review here). Instead, I wanted to showcase the mixed genre soundtrack that accompanied Normal People.

I’m just really missing going to gigs and since I’m not reviewing gigs on my blog, I thought I’d share my favourite tracks from the Normal People soundtrack.

My favourite tracks from the show

I remember watching the first episode of Normal People, Allan and I looking at each other when we heard “Warped Window” by Anna Mieke for the first time. I quickly turned on my phone’s Google Assistant to listen and tell us what song was playing.

The Normal People soundtrack is a mix of classic and contemporary songs, which add a real sense of emotion and make Normal People even more captivating.

I have so many favourite tracks from the show, which I have marked with **.

  1. I haven’t watched Normal People yet. My cousin told me about it so I’m very curious about it. I don’t actually know any of the songs on the soundtrack except for 99 Luftballons by Nena obviously. It’s such a classic German song that I grew up with so it’s funny to see it listed here.

    1. You should definitely give it a try and let me know what you think of it? Ah that’s really cool to know you grew up with 99 Luftballons. I really like it 🙂 I hope you are doing well Nina.

  2. Thank you so much for listing these out! Been obsessed with the book and the show and now have my own soundtrack playlist to help cure my Normal People hangover. 🙏

    1. Oh you are very welcome, Lindsey. I loved it too. I keep meaning to rewatch the show, and you’ve just reminded me to do that. I’m so glad you found my blog post and found it helpful.
